Ed Taylor Construction more than doubled its revenue in 2012, qualifying them for the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s Tampa Bay Business 100 list. One of the company’s most high-profile projects was the transformation of the former Grayl’s Hotel in St. Petersburg into the Birchwood Inn.
The Birchwood Inn, an 18-room boutique hotel with a rooftop bar called The Canopy, opened in May following extensive renovations and the addition of two floors done by Ed Taylor Construction. Of the original building, only the shell remains today.
Restoring a historic landmark originally built in 1924, this month Ed Taylor Construction completed The Historic Birchwood Hotel, which opened last week in the heart of downtown St. Petersburg. Like many historic preservations, The Birchwood was not built without surprises.

The historic Birchwood Hotel and Birch & Vine restaurant open after a painstaking, highly detailed construction job by Ed Taylor Construction, which basically built a new building within the exterior walls of the original 1920s structure.
USAmeriBank’s new Westshore branch serves customers in an extremely stylish way, including open expanses of glass and a prominently displayed logo. Ed Taylor Construction was the general contractor responsible for the renovation.
